Nothing is better then driving rain and 15-20 knot headwinds during a 3 hour race. O.. I forgot this is worse: chasing the break for 1 hour with them barely insight and believing your about to catch them and then the race is shorten by 10 miles by the offical during the race. The race ends and your teammate in the break has no idea you were chasing him. Otherwise the best qoute of the day: "Those orange guys are killing us" DNF rider |

Leg 2 of the tour de state-champs. My legs were even more worthless today than yesterday. My claim to fame was that I was shelled, dressed in civvies, and at the feed zone on the back side of the course before the halfway point in the race. Mercifully, I also managed to do all this *before* the rain started. So I did not have to endure the misery of getting dropped *and* getting wet. I handed up water, my wind vest to Ryan, and a special-order drink mix to Rob. I also performed an informal exit poll of the many riders getting shelled and stopping at the feed zone. The consistent report was "those orange guys are *killing* us out there". |
